The mechanic for North is what made me want to play the game. Check out my Let's play. Fun game, but i think the kid isn't really blind :)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGuOqiHJhCc. The idea of controlling a dog in a game works very well here. It really makes me feel the urgent dependency between the blind boy and his dog. Nice gameplay and puzzles, lovely aesthetics which reminds me to Tim Burton. I really enjoyed playing this game. A must in your library if you want to try something new.. Ian's eyes is one of the worst games I have ever played. It’s complete bull crap, but let’s start with the story first. You play as Ian, a young blind boy starting his first day at a new school; everything is going okay, till the Principal shows an old slideshow to the school, which makes them into zombie. So it’s up to Ian and his dog North to escape. Now let’s start with the good first. I liked the music and the idea for the game is interesting too. Now for bad.The story does not make one bit of sense. Hell even when you hear how all most all the school became zombies it still does not make sense. Then there is the protagonist Ian, he is one of the most stupidest people. Like when he gets to the Principal’s office, the Principal tells him to get a key from the library, and Ian does that. Even those he is blind and there are zombies running around.Or when Ian gets hurt and asks his dog to get something for the pain, again, he asks his dog to get something for the pain. Now for the enemies. They are unpredictable and unfair in annoying way, what I mean by that is that you must get past them to get to safety/get to the next area. But they are so unpredictable and even those there are blind, if you get to close to them, even if you are behind them they can still get you. Then there is the art/graphics style. Now to me, I don’t really care about that as long as there is a good story with some good characters. Hell I think it show you don’t need the best art/graphics style to make awesome and beloved game. But this game it show it art/graphics even the animation still needed some work. Voice acting too. And the worst thing about this game is it had an interesting idea but completely screwed it up.So with all that being said don’t get this game, even those I got this on sail, I still feel like I got ripped off.. And the worst thing about this game is it had an interesting idea but completely screwed it up.So with all that being said don’t get this game, even those I got this on sail, I still feel like I got ripped off.. This puzzle-adventure game has surprised me in a good way. Despite some details to polish, the game is pretty amusing and the challenges makes you want to try once and again.. It's♥♥♥♥♥♥and I'm disappointed. The concept is cool but the bad voice acting, bad story, and game mechanics ruined it (seriously if they didn't use voice acting at all would be better somehow). The controls are awkward like when you play as a dog you can't bark and move quickly to dodge the enemy.I could ignore the bad voice acting and the bad story, but man... the enemies. The enemies are unpredictable in unfair annoying way, like you can't tell whos that enemy that stand still or the one that stand still also but will attack you without a warning when you get close to him and not avoidable. Or enemy that patrols and ignores you if you walk by him or the enemy that patrols and suddenly chases you once you're close to him which it is not aviodable after. And sometimes when you use the dogs to check them out they wouldn't chase it, but when you move ♥♥♥♥ing Ian they suddenly attack him then.Oh yeah, not to mention the enemies that works as a wall but you can't tell because they look like the others who would attack you. Because they all use random models and not giving them any unique appearance. They expected you to die alot that they even bothered to make death counter for it.. Don't let the trailers fool you. This game may seem like a fun game to play, but you will get frustrated over and over again. There are some good qualities to the game but also bad ones, unfortunately.Pros:The graphics certainly catches my attention. It kind of looks like the stop-motion animation or a CGI that looks like from Jimmy Neutron (bad example, sorry).Another positive is that they have full controller support. That is always a plus. Also, check points are nicely spread out. If you progress enough to another screen, the game may save from there thus avoiding many frustrations. This also may be a bad thing for those who want a challenge but then again, there are many challenges a plenty for this game.Cons:Voice acting needs a lot of work. The voice actor for the principle doesn't seem to be putting any effort in the situation. He seems to be reading from a script. The voice acting for Ian was alright but sometimes certain situations doesn't match his enthusiasm.Another problem is controls. I can't speak for keyboard/mouse since I didn't use it for this game. "Freeze" barking and "attracting" barking should've been on separate buttons. Double tapping for the freeze bark is brutal. It is difficult to utilize each bark properly because you are constantly running around avoiding zombies while trying to go for the freeze bark. Sometimes I end up attracting the zombies instead. The developers should've separated these two barks in two different buttons.Map design is a big problem with this game. Most sections in the game don't scroll like a bigger map. They just stay fixed, so you are just moving from screen to screen. This becomes a big problem because when you are moving to the next screen, sometimes you automatically bump right into the zombie. There is no way of knowing that the zombie was right in front of you. Also, the map angle changes at times. When you are running from zombies, I sometimes end up walking back to the previous map. I even sometimes run right into a wall or zombie that I was trying to avoid.Overall:This game was meant to be frustrating and you are meant to die a lot; however, I felt most of the frustration is "out-of-game" rather than "in-game". I felt I was more frustrated with the controls and bad camera angles which allowed me to die so often compared to the zombie layout. I would've enjoyed the challenge of strategically maneuvering around zombies with feint barks but again controller issues and map design ruins it for me.If I were to recommend this game, it would be for those who love a challenge. For casual gamers, they should avoid this game.I still give this game a thumbs up despite the many frustrations. Developers do put a lot of effort in making this game. The concept was good. Story was okay. CGI is nicely done. Decent length of game time. I just wish that the controller and map design were done better.. Well, this is certainly something different: a Unity-made stealth-horror game which ISN'T in first-person, and even dares to look a bit "spooky-cute"! Unfortunately, the dissimilarity to a lot of other (frequently sub-par) Unity product ends somewhere around there. Perhaps it's best we get a little rant out of the way before I proceed any further: WHY IN GOD'S GOOD NAME DO YOU EUROPEAN INDIE DEVELOPERS INSIST UPON DOING YOUR OWN VOICE ACTING WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH? AND WHY WOULD YOU WRITE DIALOGUE WITH WORDS LIKE "CENTENARY" BEING REPEATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN...WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN PRONOUNCE THE WORD "CENTENARY" PROPERLY, FOR ♥♥♥♥'S SAKE?! Okay, rant over. Apologies, but I did need to get that off my chest (which I've done a few times before, but one can only live in hope that someday someone might actually LISTEN)! When all is said and done, though, this would all be forgivable enough if we were talking about a stealth game where the stealth actually works. Regrettably, it doesn't. There's little consistency to how the A.I. will behave, meaning that learning from your mistakes still has about a 50/50 chance of biting you in the butt, and then it's aaaaaall the way back to a checkpoint five minutes prior to do it all over again (with varying results to the last time, no doubt). I couldn't help but be reminded of the legendary Bad Rats: fantastic premise (blind boy dodging zombie schoolkids with the aid of his guide dog), but the gameplay is so inconsistent and unpredictable that merely trying to repeat what worked for you the last time is a crap-shoot at best. The Resident Evil-style camera angles don't help much either: creeping around trying not to bump into uglies is no mean feat when one could be literally two inches in front of you, and you can't see or hear the ♥♥♥♥er until you stumble headlong into them. I applaud the devs for the premise, I truly do. This had the potential to be the freshest horror game since Among the Sleep, but unfortunately the execution is severely lacking. This game might LOOK a bit like a three-dimensional Limbo, but trust me, it doesn't play like one. Limbo has an exemplary difficulty arc in which new mechanics are slowly introduced and extrapolated upon, whereas this game is insanely hard by about the thirty-minute mark. I dread to think what awaits beyond the hour-and-a-half I was willing to give it, because even slightly more challenging than what I've played so far is a little too close to "impossible" for my tastes. Unless, of course, you're one of those people who enjoys doing the same tediously pedantic bits over and over and over again, with absolutely no guarantee of success even when you plan things out to the nth degree. If so, you're in luck, 'cause someone made a game just for you. This really is one of the most heartbreaking reviews I've ever had to write, 'cause I sincerely had high hopes for this one. If ever a game cried out for a more competent remake, this'd be the one. The premise actually has "hit" written all over it, and it could no doubt appeal to a wide audience well beyond the established horror community. But the version we have here would need soooooo much work to make it even half of what it could be, so I sincerely question whether the devs should even bother. Restart from scratch, and give the new product to all the people who bought the first one for free; that'd be the best-case scenario in my book. Oh, and for ♥♥♥♥'s sake: GET SOME VOICE ACTORS WHO SPEAK THE QUEEN'S LANGUAGE next time. There's this thing out there called the INTERNET, and not everyone on it speaks Pidgin English. Full marks to the devs for having the vision and determination to make this game, minus about 5.5/10 for the actual execution. Consider my heart partly broken, but my faith in human courage partially restored. Better luck/judgement next time.Verdict: 4.5/10.(PS If you enjoyed this review, feel free to check out my two Curator pages: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/9284586-ReviewsJustfortheHELLofit/http://store.steampowered.com/curator/10868048-Truly-Horrible-Horror-Games/?appid=398210Cheers!)
